What's new at Hub Bikes

We all had to much fun with the first UNDURO we're throwing a 2nd one on TUESDAY May 13 at 5:00pm ***The bike shop will be closing early for this event. ***

Kris spent 10 days riding his bike in Alaska in February. We were so stoked to hear about how his trip went we asked him to please come in and share a slide show with us and with you. We can't wait to hear his stories and learn from his experiences!

Local Pro Triathlete, Laura Mathews, will be sharing tips from choosing your first race to crossing the finish line. Laura has raced competitively as a pro athlete since 2017 traveling the globe to bike, swim, and run. She will dive into her wealth of knowledge and training experience to help make 2025 your year to cross the finish line. No matter the length of race there is something for you to learn from her.

Bike Law 101 will cover a lot of the laws that both govern and protect cyclists as well as discuss safe cycling, proper insurance for cyclists and what to do in the event of a crash. It’s an interactive presentation so bring your questions and concerns.

While winter is Jim's favorite season, the end of May, June, and July are my favorite month to ride! Many of you know Jim leads a 7AM M-F group ride from the parking lot of the HUB and as sunrise is now before 7AM more of the group has been showing on a regular basis. Over the years he has noticed the early risers, associated with UGA, have more time during these months. Additionally, the afternoon heat has a lot of others looking for the cooler morning temperatures. Whatever your reason, we enjoy the social time that can be had while riding and treat ourselves each Friday to a post-ride coffee with our friends.

After four years of being frustrated with a lack of safe cycling and economic opportunities in her home town, Mary Charles Howard decided to take matters into her own hands. April 15 at 6:15pm at the Hub Bikes‍

MONDAY May 5 at 6:00pm & Thursday May 22 at 6:00pm‍ We will ride through the 5PTS Neighborhood on to the Oconee Greenway section off College Station around to the Firefly and back to 5PTS through Campus.‍

HT PEDALS DEMO DAY April 9 @ 6:!5pm WITH OUR FRIENDS FROM BIKE FETTISH

The intention of this ride is to create a place for new women riders to ride our bikes together and to cultivate a cycling community in an encouraging low pressure environment. Our hope is to introduce ladies to group riding, help you feel more comfortable on your bike in a supportive group, while also developing some basic bike skills to encourage confidence.

So it’s winter. The time of year where many people find themselves preferring to cuddle up on the couch under a blanket much more than making the effort to bundle up to bear the frigid temps and gusty winds.

Join us at 5:30pm on January 22, 2024 to meet Jered and Ashley at the shop for an evening of stories and photographs from some of their favorite cycling moments. Slideshow presentation will begin at 6:15pm

Are you curious about the gravel around us, but you feel unsure of where to go? Maybe you are a seasoned gravel rider, but would love some buddies to ride with.. Come spend a Sunday morning with Sarah H and friends pedaling the gravel roads in Arnoldsville, GA into the Oconee National Forest on April 14 at 10:00am. Registration is required.

The days are getting short so group rides are slowing down. We still want to encourage you to get out and ride bikes. During November we will putting these images of our good friend, Mark Babcock, out and about town. Find one? Return it to the shop for some Surly Bikes Goodies! They'll be moving around since Mark is always on the move. We will post a picture of where it is. First person to grab it gets the goods!

E-bikes are everywhere and they are FUN!! Joseph talks about what to look for when shopping for an E-Bike to ensure you are making an informed and knowledgeable decision.

Hello Everyone!The leaves are falling and so are the temps! This is my favorite time of the year to get on my bike. My 4 year old son loves to go on Greenway adventures with me pulling him in his trailer. Riding with friends, family, or an after work solo Pink Church Loop on the road bike makes me so happy.

This ride will be moving at a faster pace than our more social rides, but a slower pace than many of the established group rides for riders who are ready to ride around 14mph. There will not be as much stopping and regrouping as our other rides, so you need to feel confident on your bike and able to ride at a moderate pace.

You may not know, but Sarah H is a pretty accomplished artist. She makes intricate Art Quilts that are inspired by the time she spends pedaling and roaming our trails and roads. She has a small show hanging at the Winterville Library July 1 - August 12.On August 5 she will be talking about her creative process and how she creates her fabric collages. We're excited to ride out to the Winterville Library with her and hear all about it. We hope you will join us. To check out her artwork you can see her online gallery at www.listeningtosilence.com

Sarah H and Brian are leading a ride on July 17 to offer a "quasi" social ride - Meaning we will ride through campus pick up the Greenway at Willow St and ride to Sandy Creek Nature Center, back towards the east side via MLK and Firefly.

Determining my limits on my bike is up to me and no one else.

As many get in winter base miles, I would encourage those who don’t already to mix uptheir training with something different from what they are used to doing.
